Happy Father’s Day!

For Father’s Day I decided to make my dad’s favorite breakfast item which he only has when he’s in Arizona.  Cheese Danishes.  I found a recipe online and wanted to give it a try!  I went to my parents house in the suburbs Sunday morning and made the danishes there.  I wanted them to be fresh out of the oven for my dad.  I love baking at my parent’s house since my mom always wants to help out.  However, if was probably the last time I’ll bake there since they sold their house and are moving out August 1st.  Anyways, my dad loved the danishes.  I actually think he liked the uncooked Danish filling better than the baked product.  The recipe I found is super easy and doesn’t take very long!

Cheese Danish Recipe

  • 2 (10 oz) cans refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 2 (8 oz) packages cream cheese
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp sour cream
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.  Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cut the roll of crescent dough into 1/4 inch slices and press out the center a bit.
  3. In a large bowl, mix together the cream cheese, sugar, lemon juice, vanilla extract and sour cream until creamy.
  4. Place a dollop of the filling on each slice of dough.
  5. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown along the sides.
I also made a few cherry and apple danishes.  For those, all you need is cherry and apple pie filling.  Place a little bit of the pie filling on the dough along with the cheese filling and bake like normal.
For the icing, mix together 1 cup confectioners sugar, 1 tablespoon milk and 1 tablespoon of butter, and drizzle it on top of the cooled danishes.
My dad is always (jokingly) telling me to bake something for him.  So, hopefully these will hold him over for a while.  Or at least until he finishes the danishes and comes back asking for more!
Happy Father’s Day to the best dad in the world!!
